Anyone with a late '97/early '98 Outback that has a burning smell should read the recalls section regarding a problem with the grease in some front half-shafts.

Other Subaru News

Subaru has released the '05 Outbacks and GTs, with engine options including the standard 2.5l NA engine with 165 hp, a turbocharged 2.5l 4-cyl with 260 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and an H6 with 250 HP and ~220 lb-ft of torque. Prices are comparable to the 04's, with higher content and better materials.

Also, 2006 is supposed to be the last year for the Baja while 2007 should see a larger (7-passenger) SUV-like vehicle (think Lexus RX-330 but longer) sporting Subaru's new corporate design cues like a new grill and headlight setup plus the awkward moniker of B9X (sounds more like a Saab, which will get a version called the 9-7x).
